Rousey's career is defined by a series of historic firsts. She was the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in judo, the first female fighter signed by the UFC, and the first woman to headline a UFC pay-per-view. She remains the only woman to win championships in both the UFC and WWE. Her six consecutive UFC title defenses set a record for the division that stood until 2022. She was voted the best female athlete of all time in a 2015 ESPN fan poll, and Fox Sports called her one of the defining athletes of the 21st century.
