    About This Album

Michael Jackson's Rock with You is a silky disco-funk gem from his 1979 breakthrough album Off the Wall. Written by Rod Temperton and produced by Quincy Jones, the song was originally offered to Karen Carpenter for her solo debut, but she passed. Released as the album's second single on November 3, 1979 via Epic Records, it became Jackson's third number one on the US pop chart and his second on the R&B chart. It spent four weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 from January 19 to February 9, 1980, and five weeks leading the R&B chart. Billboard ranked it the fourth biggest single of 1980, and it is often cited as one of the last great hits of the disco era. The track was reissued in 2006 as part of the Visionary: The Video Singles box set. In 2021, Rolling Stone placed it at number 354 on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
