Guerrero's career is marked by a series of near-misses that have become part of Indianapolis 500 lore. He finished second twice, in 1984 and 1987, and secured the pole position in 1992, only to spin out on the pace lap. His qualifying speed record stood for four years, a testament to his raw speed. As the first Colombian in Formula One, he opened the door for future Latin American drivers and remains a respected figure in the sport.

AwardsGuerrero won the CART Rookie of the Year and Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year in 1984. He also earned the pole position for the 1992 Indianapolis 500, a significant achievement in itself.
