Zemeckis's achievements place him among the most awarded directors in Hollywood. He is one of the few filmmakers to win both a Student Academy Award and an Academy Award for Best Director. His film Forrest Gump won six Oscars, including Best Picture, and his work on Who Framed Roger Rabbit earned three technical Oscars. He has received lifetime achievement awards from the Visual Effects Society and the American Society of Cinematographers, recognizing his contributions to film technology. In 2004, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
