    Ridley Scott is one of the most decorated directors in cinema history. He has been nominated for four Academy Awards, eight BAFTAs, and a Grammy. His film Gladiator won the Oscar for Best Picture. He has won two Golden Globes and two Primetime Emmys. In 2018, he received the BAFTA Fellowship, the highest honor from the British Academy. In 2026, he received an Academy Honorary Award for his lifetime achievements. Scott was knighted in 2003 and appointed Knight Grand Cross in 2024, one of the highest honors in the UK. Three of his films are preserved in the U.S. National Film Registry. He is the eighth-highest-grossing director of all time.
