Record
Brazil"Brazil's second-largest commercial television network"
About
Paulo Machado de Carvalho launched the station that became Record on September 27, 1953. What started as a single broadcaster in São Paulo grew into a massive media empire with 111 retransmission stations across Brazil. The network operates from the Dermeval Gonçalves Theater in São Paulo and produces content at Casablanca Estúdios in Rio de Janeiro.
In 2002, the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God acquired the struggling network and revitalized it through strategic programming. Record now consistently competes for the number two spot in national ratings against SBT while trailing the market leader Globo. The brand generates revenue through advertising and international sales of its telenovela formats.
