Raz-B

De'Mario Monte Thornton, professionally known as Raz-B, is an American singer, rapper, and actor best recognized as a founding member of the multi-platinum R&B boy band B2K. Born on June 13, 1985, in Cleveland, Ohio, he rose to fame in the late 1990s alongside groupmates Lil Fizz, J-Boog, and Omarion. His career has spanned over two decades, marked by significant commercial success with B2K, solo musical ventures, acting roles in films like You Got Served, and reality television appearances.

As of 2026, Raz-B remains active in the entertainment industry. He continues to tour with the reunited B2K lineup, promoting their album Mileage, and maintains a presence through social media and occasional solo projects. His public image balances nostalgia for the early 2000s R&B era with a modern, candid approach to his personal life, particularly highlighted by his time on Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. [edit]

Raz-B was born De'Mario Monte Thornton on June 13, 1985, in Cleveland, Ohio. His family later moved to Los Angeles, California, where he began pursuing his passion for music at a young age. His early life was defined by a strong interest in performing arts; he participated in local talent shows and church choirs, honing the vocal skills that would later define his career. Before achieving fame, he attended high school in Los Angeles, balancing academics with early musical training and dance rehearsals.

His pivotal moment came when he was scouted for the formation of B2K, a project spearheaded by record producer Chris Stokes. This opportunity required him to relocate fully into the entertainment industry during his mid-teens. The rigorous training and audition process prepared him for the demands of the pop market, setting the stage for his entry into professional music production and performance. [edit]

Raz-B's professional journey began in earnest in 1999 when he was selected as one of the original members of B2K. The group signed with MCA Records and debuted in 2001 with the platinum-selling album B2K. Their breakthrough followed quickly with Pandemonium! in 2002, which featured the chart-topping hit Bump, Bump, Bump. The group also starred in the 2004 film You Got Served, which became a cultural phenomenon for its dance sequences and further cemented their status as teen idols.

Following the disbandment of B2K in 2004, Raz-B pursued a solo career. He released the song Laid Off, a contemporary R&B track that showcased his individual style. He also expanded into acting, appearing in films such as Pieces of a Dream (2005) and Lovers Lane. In recent years, he has maintained a presence in the entertainment industry through touring with the reunited B2K lineup, releasing new music including the Guidance video, and participating in reality television. Notably, he joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood to document his personal life and relationship dynamics, turning his public persona into a broader brand. [edit]

Raz-B is portrayed as a resilient figure who has navigated the transition from teen idol to adult artist. His public image is characterized by a mix of nostalgia for the B2K era and a modern, candid approach to his personal life. He is seen as a devoted father and husband, especially in light of recent events. His social media presence often reflects a protective stance towards his family and a direct communication style with his fanbase regarding business matters and personal updates. [edit]
