Rajinikanth's shelf of honours is staggering. He is one of the few actors to receive both the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan, India's third and second highest civilian awards. His Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2019 placed him among the legends of Indian cinema. He has won eight Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, more than any other actor, and his films have broken box-office records for decades. His 2007 film Sivaji was the first Indian film to gross over ₹100 crore, a milestone that changed the industry's perception of regional cinema.
