Rade Obrenovič

Referees are not honored with trophies the way players are, but Obrenović's January 2026 promotion to UEFA's elite category is the officiating equivalent of a major award. It places him in a small group of officials trusted with the highest-stakes matches in European football, and the appointments that followed, including a Champions League fixture and the Cairo derby, show that the designation came with real responsibility. His 2017 addition to the FIFA International Referees List at age 26 was an early marker of potential, and the nearly decade-long gap between that recognition and elite status reflects the patience required to climb the refereeing ladder.
