Rachel Chavkin's direction of Hadestown earned her the trifecta of major theater awards in 2019: Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle. Her ability to transform a folk opera into a Broadway phenomenon, complete with immersive staging and musician-actors, set a new standard for musical theater. Her film version of the show achieved the best live-capture opening since Hamilton, underscoring her cross-medium influence.
