    About

Querétaro Fútbol Club plays in a stadium named after a woman who never saw a match there. Estadio Corregidora, with its 34,107 seats, honors Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, the conspirator who tipped off the independence movement in 1810. The club has called it home for decades, and on match days the blue, black and white of the Gallos Blancos fills the bowl in Santiago de Querétaro, about 220 kilometers northwest of Mexico City.

The team was founded in 1950 as Club Querétaro A.C. and helped launch the Segunda División that same year. For most of its first four decades it bounced around the lower tiers. The identity fans know now arrived in 1999, when the club merged with Gallos Blancos UAQ and took on the rooster crest and nickname. That merger is the reason a white chicken, not a more conventional animal, sits at the center of everything the club sells.

Liga MX has never handed Querétaro a league trophy. The cabinet is not empty, though. In 2016 the club beat Guadalajara in the Copa MX final, then added a Supercopa MX by defeating América. Those two matches remain the reference points for anyone arguing about the club's best day. The roster has also drawn eyeballs far beyond the Bajío: Ronaldinho and Antonio Valencia both finished their careers in Querétaro colors, turning ordinary league fixtures into international curiosities.

    History

The paperwork dates to 1950, when Club Querétaro A.C. signed on as a founding member of the Segunda División. Early decades were spent in the lower divisions, with the club drifting between promotion pushes and consolidation. The turning point came in 1999. A merger with Gallos Blancos UAQ produced the White Roosters brand, and the rooster has been on the badge ever since.

Top-flight football arrived in fits and starts. Querétaro has been promoted to the Primera División and relegated from it, with its longest unbroken runs coming in the 2000s and 2010s. The 2016 Copa MX run stands as the club's signature achievement: a final win over Guadalajara, followed by a Supercopa MX victory against América. On April 18, 2015, the club produced one of its loudest regular-season results, a 4–0 dismantling of América.

Stability has been the harder opponent. The touchline has seen a long procession of managers, among them Víctor Manuel Vucetich, Hernán Cristante, Leonardo Ramos, Héctor Altamirano and Esteban González. Bertram Capital's entry into the ownership group marked a push for outside investment. The 2026 Apertura brought a 2–1 loss to Atlético de San Luis and a first-ever meeting with FC Dallas in the Leagues Cup on August 5, 2026, a sign of the club's growing cross-border profile.
