Born in London's Lambeth borough on July 17, 1947, Camilla Rosemary Shand grew up in East Sussex and South Kensington before studying in England, Switzerland, and France. Her path eventually led her to become a central figure in modern British royalty as the wife of King Charles III. After marrying army officer Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973, she navigated a highly publicized relationship with Prince Charles that spanned decades and survived both their first marriages. The couple finally wed at Windsor Guildhall in 2005, followed by a blessing at St George's Chapel. When Charles ascended to the throne following Queen Elizabeth II's death in September 2022, Camilla became Queen Consort. Their formal coronation occurred at Westminster Abbey on May 6, 2023.
