Edwin Paine

Edwin Paine was a 16-year-old student at St. Hilarion's boarding school in 1916 when his teacher, a man named Mr. Gribbins, poisoned him. The murder went unsolved, and Edwin's ghost remained trapped in the school for decades. He spent those years in the library, reading and waiting, until another boy, Charles Rowland, died at the school in 1989. The two formed a pact to escape together and never be separated. Since then, they have roamed the living world, solving supernatural mysteries as the Dead Boy Detectives.[edit]

Edwin is prim, proper, and deeply cautious. His Edwardian upbringing gave him a rigid sense of order and a preference for rules. He is highly intelligent, bookish, and relies on logic and research. Beneath his stiff exterior, he is fiercely loyal to Charles and struggles with emotional vulnerability. He hides his feelings behind formality and sarcasm, but his actions reveal a caring nature.
