Lamborghini Aventador

Unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 took the supercar world by surprise. Its carbon fiber monocoque, scissor doors, and sharp lines borrowed from the Reventón made it look like a fighter jet on wheels. Under the hood sat a new 6.5-liter V12 engine, code-named L539, producing 690 horsepower. The car could hit 60 mph in under three seconds and top out above 217 mph.

Named after a fighting bull that charged into the ring in Zaragoza in 1993, the Aventador carried on Lamborghini's tradition of bull-inspired names. Over its eleven-year production run, it spawned countless variants: the open-top Roadster, the rear-wheel-steering Aventador S, the track-focused SV, the record-setting SVJ with active aerodynamics, and the final Ultimae that pushed power to 780 hp. In total, more than 11,400 units were built, far exceeding the original plan of 4,000.

The Aventador's naturally aspirated V12 became its defining feature, delivering a raw, emotional soundtrack that grew increasingly rare as competitors turned to turbocharging and hybridization. Its controversial single-clutch ISR transmission shifted with brutal speed but felt jerky in traffic. Still, for a decade, the Aventador was the ultimate expression of Lamborghini's philosophy: extreme, dramatic, and unapologetically loud. [edit]
