The Hyundai i10 has been a constant presence on city streets since 2007, when it took over from the aging Atos. This A-segment hatchback was built for the urban jungle, and it shows in every dimension: just 3.67 metres long and 1.68 metres wide, it slips into parking spots that larger cars would have to pass by. But don't let the size fool you. Inside, the i10 manages to feel surprisingly roomy, with clever packaging that gives rear passengers more legroom than you'd expect from something this compact. Over the years, the i10 has gone through three generations, each one refining the formula. The third-generation model arrived in India in August 2019, offering both petrol and diesel engines, and it also spawned sedan versions called the Xcent and the Aura. In India, the car lives on as the Grand i10 NIOS, which even got a new VIBE edition in April 2026. The i10's appeal has always been about low running costs and dependability, and it has delivered on both fronts. In the 2025 What Car? Reliability Survey, it scored a perfect 100%, a rare feat that speaks to the car's build quality.

But the i10's story took a significant turn in January 2026, when Hyundai officially ended production for the European and UK markets after an 18-year run. The decision is part of the company's shift toward electric vehicles, with a new entry-level EV planned to take the i10's place. Production continues in India, where the Grand i10 NIOS remains a core model. The i10's legacy is secure, though.
