Pote Sarasin's greatest accolade is the lasting institution he helped create: the Asian Institute of Technology. As the first Secretary-General of SEATO, he proposed the concept of a regional graduate school of engineering in 1957 and tirelessly championed its establishment. The school, which opened in 1959, grew into AIT, a world-renowned institution that has educated thousands of engineers and leaders from across Asia. His vision of international cooperation through education stands as his most enduring achievement. In recognition, AIT honors him as a founding father. His diplomatic career, spanning key posts from Foreign Minister to Ambassador, also earned him respect on the international stage, including his role on UNCURK.
