Portia Modise

Portia Modise's record speaks for itself. She is the first African player, male or female, to score 100 international goals, a feat that puts her in a league of her own. Her 101 goals in 124 caps for Banyana Banyana remain a benchmark. She won the 2006 Women's African Football Championship Player of the Championship and, in 2014, became the first woman to claim the South African Sports Star of the Year. Her 2012 Olympic goal against Sweden is still talked about as one of the greatest in the tournament's history. In 2026, she was inducted into the gsport Hall of Fame, cementing her status as a trailblazer for women's and LGBTQ+ football in South Africa.
