    About

On May 23, 1930, Battista "Pinin" Farina opened a small coachbuilding shop in Turin with 18 employees. That first year, the workshop turned out 50 automobile bodies. Within decades, Carrozzeria Pinin Farina would become the name behind some of the most beautiful cars ever made, forging a partnership with Ferrari that produced classics like the 250 GT and the Testarossa. The company's signature became clean lines, balanced proportions, and a sense of motion even at rest.

After Battista's death in 1966, the company was renamed Pininfarina and continued under his son Sergio. It expanded beyond cars into high-speed trains, yachts, aircraft interiors, and consumer goods, applying its design philosophy across industries. In 2007, the firm began a strategic shift from pure B2B services toward building its own branded products. That move culminated in the creation of Automobili Pininfarina in 2018, a subsidiary that produces the Battista, an all-electric hyper GT capable of 1,900 horsepower.

In December 2015, the Indian conglomerate Mahindra Group acquired a 76% stake in Pininfarina S.p.A. for about €168 million, securing the company's future while preserving its Italian identity. Today, Pininfarina employs nearly 500 people across offices in Italy, Germany, China, and the United States. Its design and engineering consultancy serves clients in automotive, architecture, and industrial design, while Automobili Pininfarina pushes the boundaries of electric luxury performance.
