Petr Pavel

Petr Pavel's career is marked by historic firsts and distinguished service. He was the first officer from a former Eastern Bloc country to chair the NATO Military Committee, a position he held from 2015 to 2018. His leadership at NATO came during a critical period, overseeing the alliance's response to Russia's annexation of Crimea and the Turkish invasion of Afrin. As Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces, he modernized the military and strengthened its NATO integration.
