Peter Shilton's career is defined by longevity and consistency. He holds the English league appearance record (1,005) and was the world record holder for most competitive appearances (1,387) until 2025. His 125 England caps remain a male record. He is one of only a few goalkeepers to win multiple European Cups, and his 11 PFA Team of the Year selections show his sustained excellence. He was the first goalkeeper to reach 1,000 league games. His MBE in 1991 recognised his contribution to football.
