Alonso's rookie season was historic: his 53 home runs smashed the previous MLB rookie record and set a new Mets single-season franchise mark. He became just the second Met to homer in an All-Star Game. His two Home Run Derby titles place him among the elite power hitters of the game. In 2025, he became the Mets' all-time career home run leader, a remarkable achievement for a player still in his prime. His combination of power, consistency, and durability has made him a cornerstone of every team he has played for.

AwardsAlonso won the National League Rookie of the Year in 2019 after setting the MLB rookie home run record. He has been an All-MLB First Team selection (2019) and won the Silver Slugger Award in 2025. He is a two-time Home Run Derby champion (2019, 2021). In the minor leagues, he earned Mid-Season New York-Penn League All-Star and Baseball America Short-Season All-Star honors in 2016.
