Per Mertesacker stands as a rare example of consistency and leadership in modern football. His induction into the Arsenal Hall of Fame cements his status as a club legend who ended a nine-year trophy drought. Winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup as captain remains a historic achievement for any defender, let alone one known for his clean disciplinary record. His transition from a player renowned for never getting a yellow card to a successful academy manager and executive shows a versatility that few athletes achieve. He is one of the few players to score in a World Cup semi-final and lift the trophy.

AwardsMertesacker's trophy cabinet reflects his status as a winner at every level of the game. He won the FIFA World Cup with Germany in 2014 and the DFB-Pokal with Werder Bremen in 2009. At Arsenal, he secured three FA Cup titles in 2014, 2015, and 2017. Individually, he was named to the UEFA Team of the Year in 2014 and received the Silver Laurel Leaf, Germany's highest sports award, for the World Cup victory. He has also been inducted into the Arsenal Hall of Fame.
