Paramore's origins are deeply rooted in Franklin, Tennessee, a vibrant music hub. The story began in 2002 when Hayley Williams relocated there following her parents' divorce. It was in this new environment that she first encountered brothers Josh and Zac Farro at school. Williams, a prodigious talent, had already been scouted and signed as a solo artist to Atlantic Records by the tender age of 15 . However, her true passion lay not in a solo career, but in the collaborative energy of a rock group. Driven by this vision, she actively sought out bandmates, and after a brief audition for a local funk band, she connected with bassist Jeremy Davis. By 2004, Paramore officially coalesced in Franklin, Tennessee, with Williams, Davis, and the Farro brothers forming the core lineup. The quartet quickly began to write original material, crafting their very first song, titled "Conspiracy." When Jeremy Davis first joined them for practice, he was initially skeptical, particularly upon discovering that drummer Zac Farro was only 14 years old. The band's distinctive name, Paramore, holds a unique backstory, derived from the maiden name of a former bass player's mother. It was only after learning that the word "paramour" literally meant "secret lover" that the band collectively decided to permanently adopt the name, finding its unexpected romantic undertone fitting for their burgeoning identity . Despite Hayley Williams' existing solo contract, Atlantic Records was persuaded to allow her to form a band. This approval, however, came with a crucial stipulation: the newly formed group would release all its music through Fueled by Ramen, a prominent subsidiary label known for its alternative and rock acts. After a pivotal private warehouse performance, which served as their unofficial showcase, Paramore officially secured a deal, signing with both Atlantic Records and Fueled by Ramen in April 2005.
