Oxford United Football Club, often called The U's, is a professional football club based in Oxford, England. After a brief stint in the Championship, the team now competes in EFL League One, the third tier of English football. The club's roots go back to 1893, when it was founded as Headington Football Club, and it took its current name in 1960. Home matches are played at the Kassam Stadium, which replaced the old Manor Ground in 2001.

The club's journey through the English football pyramid has seen significant highs and lows. They joined the Football League in 1962 and reached the Second Division in 1968. A notable period of success occurred between 1984 and 1986, with back-to-back promotions into the First Division, the top flight at the time. This era culminated in winning the League Cup in 1986, their first and only major trophy. The team's traditional colors are yellow shirts with navy shorts and socks. Their crest features an ox, symbolizing the city's historical role as a cattle market town by a ford on the River Isis.
