Hitzfeld's record of seven Bundesliga titles places him second only to Udo Lattek in German league history. His two Champions League victories with different clubs put him in an elite group of just seven managers worldwide. He is the only manager to have won the Champions League with both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. His 18 major trophies across Swiss and German football mark him as one of the most decorated coaches of his generation.

AwardsHitzfeld won the IFFHS World Coach of the Year award twice, in 1997 and 2001, for his Champions League triumphs. He was named German Football Manager of the Year multiple times and Swiss Football Coach of the Year in 1985 and 1990. His team trophies include two Champions Leagues, seven Bundesliga titles, three DFB-Pokals, and multiple Swiss league and cup titles.
