Oshi no Ko

Oshi no Ko, written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, ran in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump from April 23, 2020 to November 14, 2024, with 166 chapters collected into 16 tankōbon volumes. The story opens with Gorou Amamiya, a rural doctor and devoted fan of pop idol Ai Hoshino. When Ai secretly visits his hospital pregnant with twins, Gorou is murdered by a stalker on the night she gives birth and reincarnates as her son, Aquamarine Hoshino. His former patient Sarina Tendouji, who died at 12, is reborn as his twin sister Ruby. The twins grow up in the entertainment industry: Aqua seeks revenge for their mother's murder, while Ruby chases her own idol dreams. The series blends drama, mystery, supernatural reincarnation, and satire, exploring fame, fandom, media manipulation, and the dark side of show business.

Yen Press handles the English release, while Shueisha publishes digitally on Manga Plus. International publishers include Altraverse (German), Edizioni BD (Italian), Kurokawa (French), Editorial Ivrea (Spanish), Studio JG (Polish), M&C! (Thai), Chingwin Publishing Group (Traditional Chinese), Daewon C.I. (Korean), and Luckpim (Indonesian). By December 2025, the manga had over 25 million copies in circulation worldwide, up from 15 million in June 2024 and 4 million in June 2023.

The anime adaptation by Doga Kobo premiered its first season (11 episodes) in April 2023. A second season (13 episodes) aired July to October 2024, and a third season ran January to March 2026. A fourth and final season has been announced. A live-action film and TV series were released in 2024: the TV series on Amazon Prime Video in November, and the film in Japanese theaters on December 20. A stage play adaptation, Oshi no Ko: The Stage, covered the 2.5D Stage Play arc in Tokyo in December 2023 and January 2024.[edit]
