Cardinal Quevedo's record is unique in the annals of the Philippine Church. As the first cardinal from Mindanao, he broke a long-standing geographical barrier, symbolizing the full integration of the southern region into the highest levels of ecclesiastical power. His career spans over six decades of service, during which he navigated some of the most volatile religious and political landscapes in Asia. His recognition by the Philippine government in 2025 and the subsequent awards in 2026 underscore a lifetime of tangible impact on national unity and peace.
