Oleksandr Syrskyi

Oleksandr Syrskyi's career is marked by several historic military achievements. He is one of the few commanders to successfully defend a capital against a much larger invading force, and his Kharkiv counteroffensive in September 2022 was the first major Ukrainian victory that shifted the momentum of the war. He was promoted to four-star General in August 2024, a rank held by only a handful of Ukrainian officers. His analytical, data-driven approach to warfare earned him the moniker 'The War Mathematician' and has influenced modern Ukrainian military doctrine.
