    About This Album

Steve Lacy's third studio album, Oh Yeah?, arrived on July 17, 2026, via RCA Records, four years after his Grammy-winning sophomore effort Gemini Rights. The album was promoted as "a record for guitar kids who love synths and synth kids who love guitars," a tagline that hints at its hybrid sonic identity. Lacy, who first gained attention as a member of The Internet at age sixteen, leans into a more electronic sound here while sharpening his songwriting, blending alternative rock, breakbeat, alternative R&B, soul, trip hop, and psychedelic music. Guest appearances come from SZA, Erykah Badu, and Cecile Believe, adding texture to an already layered record.

Produced by Lacy alongside Marius de Vries, Matt Martians, Michael Uzowuru, Nicholas Weiss, and Karl Wingate, with Matthew Castellanos as executive producer, the album's lyrics swing between juvenile humor and self-reflective sincerity. Themes touch on existentialism, hedonism, societal issues, and Lacy's romantic relationships, as well as how early fame shaped him. The singles "Nice Shoes," "The Feeling," and "Is It Cool?" preceded the release, with "Lovesexdrugbomb" and "Pure Colour" following as digital singles. Critics praised the album's textural production, genre diversity, and introspective themes, though some were split on its humor and lyrical content.

The release coincided with a new solo album from Syd, Lacy's former bandmate in The Internet, prompting NPR to frame the two as contrasting statements on fame and artistic direction. Lacy's promotional campaign included an exclusive TikTok in-app experience, and one of the album's tracks appeared in the 2026 Marvel film Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
