Overview
NTT Solmare released Obey Me! on December 12, 2019, establishing a distinct presence within the mobile otome market. The game transports players into the role of a human student who dies in an accident and wakes up in the Devildom. There, the protagonist must survive daily life while managing schedules and building affection with seven demon brothers at the Royal Academy of Diavolo. The narrative balances slapstick comedy with genuine relationship drama as the player navigates the challenges of being a Devil's Advocate trainee.
By late 2021, the title had accumulated over five million downloads globally across Android and iOS platforms. The franchise expanded rapidly following its initial success, spawning spin-offs like Obey Me! Nightbringer and Till Death Do Us Part. An anime adaptation aired on Crunchyroll, further cementing the series' reach beyond the original mobile audience.
Gameplay
The core loop combines visual novel storytelling with life simulation mechanics. Players manage a weekly schedule where they choose between studying, working part-time jobs, or spending time with specific demons to raise affection points. Dialogue choices branch the narrative and influence relationship levels. A gacha system allows users to collect character cards that provide stat boosts for mini-games and unlock special scenes or costumes.
Mini-games include rhythm challenges and quizzes designed to earn in-game currency. While the primary experience is single-player, the title integrates social features allowing users to share progress on official community platforms. Voice acting is provided entirely in Japanese for all main story routes.
Story
A human protagonist arrives in the Devildom after dying from an accident. She encounters Lucifer, Mammon, Leviathan, Satan, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, and Belphegor, the seven demon princes training to inherit their positions as rulers of Hell. These siblings attend the Royal Academy of Diavolo alongside the protagonist, who must learn to adapt to infernal society.
The plot follows her efforts to balance academic duties with personal relationships while deciding which brother to romance or if she will eventually return to Earth. The narrative weaves themes of family dynamics and destiny through a lens of supernatural comedy and romantic tension.
