Nue's Exorcist

Kōta Kawae launched Nue's Exorcist in the May 2023 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump. The series blends traditional Japanese folklore with modern action, following a young exorcist tasked with taming the legendary Nue monster. As of September 2026, publishers have collected sixteen tankōbon volumes into physical books. Studio Hibari plans to adapt the manga into an anime television series that will air in the third quarter of 2027.

Gakuro Yajima sees spirits since childhood and finds a sealed room at his new school where he meets Nue, a pop-culture-obsessed spirit trapped for sixty years. This unlikely pair forms a contract to exorcise evil spirits while navigating themes of friendship and the emotional weight of sadness. The story balances lighthearted comedy with serious supernatural threats through dynamic character designs and a diverse cast of monsters. [edit]
