She won five FAMAS Awards, seven Gawad Urian Awards, nine PMPC Star Awards, eight Metro Manila Film Festival Awards, four Luna Awards, and five Young Critics Circle Awards. Her international recognition includes the Asian Film Award and Asia Pacific Screen Award for Thy Womb, plus a Best Actress win at the Cairo International Film Festival. She was also named one of the decade's best actors in three different decades, a feat no other Filipino performer has matched. In 2022, she received the ultimate honor: the National Artist of the Philippines.
