    Overview

Nobunaga Concerto, a Japanese manga by Ayumi Ishii, spins a clever time-travel twist on the Sengoku period. High school student Saburo suddenly finds himself in 1549, face-to-face with the historical warlord Oda Nobunaga, who looks exactly like him. Nobunaga convinces Saburo to take his place, setting off a chain of events where a modern teenager must navigate feudal politics, battles, and alliances while trying to keep his identity a secret. The series blends historical drama with comedic misunderstandings, offering a fresh take on a well-trodden era. Serialized in Shogakukan's Monthly Shōnen Sunday since May 2009, the manga has grown to 23 collected volumes by August 2026. Its popularity sparked a ten-episode anime in 2014, an eleven-episode live-action drama the same year, and a feature film in 2016. By February 2016, the manga had sold over 3.5 million copies, and it won the 57th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category in 2012, cementing its status as a standout in historical fiction for younger readers.
