Nnedi Okorafor's trophy case is a testament to her range and impact. She is the first Black woman to win the Hugo Award for Best Novella, which she took home for Binti in 2016. That same story also won the Nebula Award, making her one of the few authors to win both in the same year. Her novel Who Fears Death won the World Fantasy Award in 2011, and her comic work for Marvel earned her an Eisner Award in 2019.In 2024, she was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame, a lifetime honor that places her alongside the genre's most influential figures. She has also won multiple Lodestar Awards for her young adult fiction, and in 2026 she added an NAACP Image Award to her collection.
