Overview
Kōji Kiriyama created Ninku, a martial arts adventure that blends ninja folklore with the high-energy pacing of weekly serialization. The story ran in Weekly Shōnen Jump from June 1993 to September 1995, collecting into nine volumes before finding its way onto screens. Studio Pierrot adapted the series into a 55-episode anime that aired on Fuji TV between January 1995 and February 1996. Fans followed the antics of young ninjas as they trained under eccentric masters and tackled bizarre villains who often defied conventional logic. Kiriyama returned to the world of the ninjas much later with Ninku 2nd Stage: Story of Etonins. This sequel appeared in Ultra Jump from September 2005 to September 2011, expanding the universe with twelve new volumes for older readers. The original manga sold over 9 million copies, proving its appeal across generations. Readers enjoyed the mix of slapstick humor and genuine combat choreography that defined the franchise.
