Nell Fisher

Nell Fisher is a British-New Zealand actress who has quickly made a name for herself in genre storytelling. She is best known for playing Kassie in the 2023 horror hit Evil Dead Rise, a role that put her on the map internationally. In 2024, she took the lead in the family adventure Bookworm opposite Elijah Wood. She joined the cast of Stranger Things for its fifth and final season in 2025, portraying an older version of Holly Wheeler. Her performances are marked by a natural intensity that belies her age, making her a rising talent to watch in fantasy and horror. Born on 2 November 2011 in London, England, she is the third actress to portray Holly Wheeler, now aged up for the final season. Critics have praised her performance, cementing her status as a rising star. [edit]

Nell Fisher was born in London to a New Zealander father and a British mother. Her father, an environmental lawyer, had a past as an actor in New Zealand, and her mother works as a diplomat. She grew up in New Zealand and South Africa before settling in North London, absorbing a range of cultures. From a young age, she wanted to act, and her family supported that ambition. She is represented by a New Zealand agency and identified as NZ European in casting materials, reinforcing her New Zealand upbringing.

She made her on-screen debut in 2022 as Tia in the independent film Northspur. That same year, she appeared in two episodes of the crime drama My Life Is Murder as Olive Crowe. A Russian filmography also lists a 2022 credit called Command Point, though details are sparse. These early roles gave her a foothold in the industry just before her big break. [edit]

Nell Fisher's breakthrough came in 2023 when she was cast as Kassie in Evil Dead Rise, the latest installment of Sam Raimi's horror franchise. Director Lee Cronin had her play with fake blood and vomit before filming to help her understand the effects were make-believe and ensure she was comfortable with the gore. The film was a box office success and introduced her to a global audience. At the time, she was too young to see it in theaters due to its R rating, but she watched a slightly cut version at a private screening.

Later in 2023, she played Luisa in the Netflix interactive romance Choose Love. In 2024, she starred as Mildred in the family adventure Bookworm (also released as Fantastic Journey), sharing the screen with Elijah Wood. Her most high-profile role came in 2025 when she joined Stranger Things season 5 as Holly Wheeler, the younger sister of Mike Wheeler. She is the third actress to play the character, now aged up for the final season. Critics praised her performance, and the role cemented her status as a rising star. [edit]

Nell Fisher is frequently cast as intense, perceptive children in genre stories, from horror in Evil Dead Rise and Stranger Things to adventure in Bookworm. Media coverage highlights her professionalism and ability to handle demanding roles at a young age. She has a growing fanbase among horror enthusiasts and Stranger Things fans, who discuss her on wikis and forums. Her social media presence is minimal, with no verified public accounts, keeping her focus on her craft rather than online persona. [edit]

Nell Fisher has rapidly ascended from a promising child actor to a central figure in modern genre storytelling, anchoring the final chapter of one of television's most enduring sagas. Her portrayal of an aged-up Holly Wheeler in Stranger Things Season 5 cemented her status as a breakout star, drawing immediate attention from global audiences and critics alike. Despite this surge in visibility, iFANN's Global Fame Engine has evaluated her career and determined that she currently does not hold a placement in the published rankings, meaning she is not yet ranked among the top 1,000 most famous people worldwide or within any specific Top-100 scope list. This absence from the leaderboard reflects the very recent nature of her mainstream breakthrough rather than a lack of impact; she is still building the historical footprint required for such a definitive standing. The audience surrounding her work is vibrant but lacks a formal, organized identity. While fans frequently discuss her performances on wikis and forums, particularly regarding her chemistry with co-stars like Finn Wolfhard and Sadie Sink, there is no documented name for her fanbase, nor are there records of dedicated fan-funded projects or specific rituals attributed solely to her. Her digital presence, including a significant TikTok following, serves more as a direct channel for promotional content and behind-the-scenes glimpses than as a hub for a structured movement. Unlike veteran stars who command subway ads or charity drives led by their supporters, Fisher's current cultural footprint is defined by professional milestones, such as her audition tape becoming key marketing material and her transition from horror hits like Evil Dead Rise to leading roles in Bookworm and The God of the Woods. These achievements mark her as a rising talent whose fame is growing organically through her craft rather than through manufactured campaigns or established fandom infrastructure.[edit]

Born in London and raised across New Zealand, South Africa, and North London, Nell Fisher possesses a rare linguistic aptitude for a teenager, speaking Russian, Ancient Greek, and Latin alongside English. Standing at approximately 1.55 meters, she maintains a minimal public social media footprint, avoiding verified accounts to focus entirely on her acting. As of the mid-2020s, she has not yet secured major award wins or magazine covers, though her trajectory suggests these accolades are imminent. A defining moment in her early career occurred when she joined the cast of Stranger Things, where her official audition tape reading alongside Sadie Sink became a centerpiece of Netflix Tudum marketing, instantly establishing her connection to the franchise's legacy. In late 2025, a personal milestone saw her celebrated her 14th birthday with karaoke, an event covered by Teen Vogue that highlighted her nervousness about a pivotal scene in the upcoming season. Industry lore also notes her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she received a "Jimmy the Joyful" necklace, signaling her shift from child actor to recognized talent. Recent developments in 2026 confirmed her leadership role in five new cast additions for the Netflix adaptation of The God of the Woods, further expanding her reputation beyond the world of Hawkins.[edit]

The family split time between New Zealand, South Africa, and North London during her childhood. No siblings or extended family members have been publicly identified. She currently lives in North London with her parents, balancing school and acting. [edit]

She worked with director Lee Cronin on Evil Dead Rise, who took special care to make her comfortable on set. She co-starred with Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan in that film. In Bookworm, she acted opposite Elijah Wood. Her role in Stranger Things season 5 placed her alongside the show's core cast, including Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard. [edit]
