Naya Rivera's portrayal of Santana Lopez on Glee was a landmark for LGBTQ representation on network television. She was the first Afro-Latina actress to play a prominent lesbian character on a major primetime show, and her performance earned her a dedicated fanbase and critical praise. Her work with the Glee cast won a Screen Actors Guild Award, and she individually won four ALMA Awards. In 2012, the Human Rights Campaign recognized her with an Ally for Equality award. Posthumously, her legacy continues through the Naya Rivera Foundation and a memorial park named in her honor in Santa Clarita.
