Narnia: The Magician's Nephew

Greta Gerwig brings her distinct storytelling voice to the origins of C.S. Lewis's beloved universe in this highly anticipated adaptation. The story opens in the stifling heat of a London alleyway where Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer meet. Both children feel isolated; Digory lives with his strange uncle while Polly stays with her grandmother. Their friendship forms quickly through shared boredom until Uncle Andrew arrives with dangerous rings he claims can transport wearers to other worlds. He tricks both children into trying on the rings, instantly whisking them away to the Wood between the Worlds, a desolate forest filled with pools leading to different universes.

While exploring this empty space, the pair discovers a pool that leads to a chaotic world in the process of creation. They soon find themselves face-to-face with Jadis, the White Witch, a sorceress exiled from her dying home of Charn after she murdered her own mother with a deadly spell. Jadis sees an opportunity to use the magic rings to either return to her old world or dominate this new one. She captures Digory and threatens him, forcing him into impossible choices as the stakes rise higher.

As the children navigate the dangers of this fluid landscape, they learn that Aslan is present in the void. The great lion begins to sing, bringing order to the chaos by forming physical landscapes like mountains, trees, and rivers out of nothingness. Jadis attempts to corrupt this creation, seeking to steal the power of Aslan's song for herself. She tries to manipulate Digory into stealing a magical apple from a garden guarded by giants, intending to use it to extend her life or gain immortality.

The children must outwit the evil queen while Aslan works to bring order to the universe. The film focuses heavily on the tension between good and evil as the fate of the new world hangs in the balance.
