Nami

Nami grew up in Cocoyasi Village after her biological mother died in a pirate attack. She and her sister Nojiko found a new home with Belle-mere, a retired Marine. Everything changed when the fish-man pirate Arlong seized the village and killed Belle-mere. To protect her home, young Nami agreed to map the seas for Arlong in exchange for a 100 million beri ransom that would free Cocoyasi Village.

For eight years she stole from pirates while secretly charting the world. She first crossed paths with the Straw Hats when she teamed up with Luffy and Zoro to swipe a map from Buggy.
