Records
Murat Yakın's coaching career reached its highest point at Euro 2024, where he orchestrated a memorable 2–0 victory over Italy, the defending champions, in the round of 16. That win sent Switzerland to the quarter-finals for only the second time in their history. He has also guided the national team to consecutive World Cups (2022, 2026), a feat achieved by few Swiss managers. Domestically, his 2015 league title with Basel broke a three-year drought for the club and earned him the Swiss Super League Coach of the Year award. His ability to prepare teams for high-pressure knockout matches has become his hallmark.
