The Losers

Sylvain White directs this 2010 action thriller that pulls from the pages of a DC Vertigo comic to tell a story of elite special forces turned fugitives. Jeffrey Dean Morgan leads a squad of black ops soldiers who survive a devastating ambush in the Bolivian jungle only to be declared dead by their own government. The film follows their desperate attempt to clear their names while hunting down the traitor responsible for the betrayal. Chris Evans, Zoe Saldaña, and Idris Elba round out the cast as they navigate a world of corporate espionage and military cover-ups. Produced with a $25 million budget by Dark Castle Entertainment and Warner Bros., the movie aims for high-octane thrills but lands a modest box office return of roughly $23.6 million. Critics and audiences gave it a mixed reception, reflected in its rating of about 6.3 out of 10 based on over two thousand votes. Despite the financial underperformance, the film offers a gritty look at loyalty and survival within the genre of military action.[edit]
