The Equalizer

Robert McCall thinks he has buried his past as a government operative and is content running a small discount store in Boston. That quiet existence shatters when he crosses paths with Teri, a young woman trapped in the grip of violent Russian mobsters. The film shifts from a character study into a high-octane thriller as McCall decides he cannot ignore the injustice unfolding before him. Denzel Washington leads the cast, bringing a calm intensity to the retired spy turned vigilante, while Marton Csokas plays the sadistic gang leader Teddy who threatens everyone in his path. Chloë Grace Moretz delivers a standout performance as the terrified but resilient Teri.[edit]
