Kandahar

Tom Harris, a burned-out CIA operative working undercover as a telecom engineer in Afghanistan, orchestrates a drone strike on an Iranian facility. The mission goes sideways when a journalist exposes his true identity to the world. Suddenly Harris is the most wanted man in the region, hunted by the Taliban, Iranian intelligence, and a Pakistani officer with a personal grudge.

Stranded hundreds of miles from safety, Harris must reach Kandahar, where a clandestine extraction awaits. He is joined by his Afghan translator, Mohammad Doud, a pragmatic family man whose collaboration with Americans now puts his own life at risk. Their journey across desert and mountain becomes a desperate race against time, forcing them to confront moral compromises and deepening their bond.

Director Ric Roman Waugh, reteaming with Butler after Angel Has Fallen and Greenland, stages tense action sequences against the stark landscapes of Saudi Arabia, where the film was shot. The script, drawn from writer Mitchell LaFortune's own experience as a Defense Intelligence Agency officer in Afghanistan, aims for authenticity in its depiction of covert operations and regional politics.[edit]

The journey forces Harris to confront the moral compromises of his work, while Mo grapples with the danger his collaboration has brought upon his family.
