Jurassic World

Twenty-two years after the original Jurassic Park collapsed, a new dinosaur theme park hums with life on Isla Nublar. Jurassic World draws 20,000 visitors daily, offering encounters with everything from gentle herbivores to the terrifying Tyrannosaurus Rex. The Masrani Corporation, which owns the park, keeps pushing for bigger attractions to maintain public interest. Their latest creation is the Indominus Rex, a genetically engineered hybrid designed to be bigger and scarier than any dinosaur that ever lived.

Chris Pratt plays Owen Grady, a former Navy man who works as a raptor trainer, forming an unlikely bond with a pack of Velociraptors. Bryce Dallas Howard is Claire Dearing, the park's operations manager, whose focus on logistics leaves little room for her visiting nephews. When the Indominus Rex outsmarts its containment and escapes, the park's carefully managed world falls apart. Director Colin Trevorrow, working from a script by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Derek Connolly, aims for a tone that mixes the original film's wonder with modern blockbuster spectacle.

Filmed in Hawaii and New Orleans, the movie cost $150 million to produce. It went on to earn over $1.67 billion globally, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of all time. Michael Giacchino composed the score, weaving John Williams's original themes into new material. The film launched a new trilogy that would continue with Fallen Kingdom in 2018 and Dominion in 2022.[edit]

Gray and Zach Mitchell arrive on Isla Nublar for a week at Jurassic World, sent by their parents to bond while they work through a divorce. Their aunt Claire Dearing runs the park's daily operations, but she's too buried in spreadsheets and investor meetings to spend time with them. She hands them a map and a VIP pass, telling them to explore on their own. The brothers wander through attractions like the Gyrosphere, a rolling ball that takes guests through a dinosaur paddock, and the Mosasaurus feeding show, where a massive marine reptile launches out of the water to snatch a shark.

Meanwhile, Owen Grady works with a pack of four Velociraptors, studying their behavior and building trust through a bond-based training method. Park security chief Vic Hoskins wants to militarize the raptors, seeing them as weapons. Owen resists, arguing they are animals, not tools. Simon Masrani, the park's owner, approves the creation of the Indominus Rex, a hybrid dinosaur designed to boost attendance. Dr. Henry Wu, the geneticist behind the project, has spliced DNA from multiple species, including cuttlefish, tree frogs, and even theropods, to create a creature that can regulate its body temperature, camouflage, and communicate.

The Indominus Rex escapes its paddock on the day of its preview. It tricks the park's sensors by clawing at the wall, making it seem like it's still inside. When a team enters the enclosure, the hybrid ambushes them from above. Owen and Claire join a search party, but the Indominus proves highly intelligent, systematically eliminating trackers and hunting the humans. Gray and Zach, separated from Claire, steal a Gyrosphere and drive through the park, eventually crashing into the ruins of the original Jurassic Park visitor center.

Owen realizes the Indominus was raised in isolation, never learning social behavior, making it unpredictable and aggressive. He suspects it can communicate with the raptors, which share some of its DNA. Hoskins, ignoring Owen's warnings, deploys the raptor squad to track the hybrid. The Indominus, now free, attacks the park's main street, destroying buildings and killing guests. Claire, Owen, and the boys reunite and flee to the old visitor center, hoping to trap the hybrid in the building's basement.[edit]
