Doctor Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Dr. Stephen Strange in a film that redefines the superhero genre by swapping capes for cloaks and lasers for spells. When a brilliant but arrogant neurosurgeon loses the use of his hands, he finds himself on a desperate journey to a hidden sanctuary where time bends and reality fractures. Under the guidance of Tilda Swinton's mysterious Ancient One, Strange must master the mystic arts to stop an ancient evil from tearing dimensions apart. Director Scott Derrickson helmed this $180 million production, which opened to strong reviews and a 7.4 rating from over 24,000 viewers. The movie grossed nearly $676 million worldwide, proving audiences were eager for a story grounded in magic rather than just technology. Alongside Cumberbatch, the cast features Chiwetel Ejiofor as the conflicted Mordo and Rachel McAdams as Strange's former lover Christine Palmer. This entry launched the Doctor Strange Collection within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, establishing a new visual language for sorcery that would influence future films.[edit]
