The brand built its reputation on a slate of cult classics and box office hits throughout the late 1980s and 1990s. Titles like Young Guns, Dead Ringers, and The Last of the Mohicans defined an era of gritty storytelling. They also delivered mainstream comedy gold with Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and sports drama Major League. These films generated significant long-term revenue through syndication deals and remain central to the company's identity today.

In recent years, the company has pivoted toward a broader content strategy under the new name Morgan Creek Entertainment Group. Following the passing of co-founder James G. Robinson on March 6, 2026, his sons Brian and David Robinson took over daily operations. The leadership transition marks a shift into television and digital media alongside traditional cinema. A prime example of this expansion is their November 2025 partnership with Blumhouse and Atomic Monster to produce a new The Exorcist film starring Scarlett Johansson and directed by Mike Flanagan.
