    Monty Python's shelf of honors reflects their singular place in comedy. They received the BAFTA for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema in 1988, one of the highest honors the British Academy bestows. The American Film Institute gave them the AFI Star Award in 1998. Their Broadway musical Spamalot earned a Grammy for Best Comedy Album in 2006. In 1995, they were inducted into the Comedy Hall of Fame. Their 2014 O2 Arena run set a Guinness World Record for the largest comedy show in the UK. In 2025, a World Origin Site plaque was erected at their formation spot in Hampstead, a rare honor that recognizes their cultural significance.
