Molly Ringwald

Molly Ringwald's awards shelf is thinner than her influence, which is a strange thing to say about someone who helped define a decade of movies. She has a Young Artist Award and a Golden Globe nomination, but no Oscar, Emmy or SAG trophy. What she does have is a body of work that critics and fans keep returning to. The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink appear on list after list of the best teen films ever made. Her writing has been well received, and she has been honored by film festivals and women's media groups for her contributions. The lack of major hardware says more about how awards bodies treat teen films than it does about her talent.
