His career highlights include representing Iran in high-stakes FIBA World Cup qualifiers and securing a bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games.

Sheikhi is best known for his clutch shooting ability and defensive intensity on the court. While he does not have the global celebrity status of NBA stars, he commands significant respect among fans of Asian basketball. His performance in recent international tournaments has cemented his role as a key figure in Iran's efforts to qualify for major world championships. [edit]

Mobin Sheikhi was born on March 15, 1997, in Iran. Specific details about his childhood, family background, or early education remain outside the public record. Most athletes from his region begin their journey through local school leagues or youth academies before turning professional. He likely honed his skills in domestic Iranian competitions before making a name for himself on the national stage.

His path to prominence started with club basketball in Iran. Before joining the national squad regularly, he played for teams like Shahrdari Gorgan and Niroo Zamini Army Tehran. These domestic years allowed him to develop the fundamentals that would later define his style as a point guard. By the early 2020s, he had become a consistent rotation player for his clubs, setting the foundation for his eventual call-up to the Gilas. [edit]

Sheikhi's breakthrough into the international spotlight came during the qualification windows for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027. Coaches began selecting him as a primary ball-handler for the national team due to his versatility. A standout moment occurred when he scored 21 points against Japan in a qualifier match. He shot an impressive 5-for-8 from three-point range, becoming the sole Iranian player to reach double-digit scoring in that game. This performance highlighted his efficiency and ability to deliver under pressure.

He continued to be a vital part of the roster for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, selected by coach Dimitris Itoudis. The following year, he played a pivotal role in the 2026 Asian Games where Iran defeated China to win the bronze medal. His contributions extended to crucial matches in the 2027 Asian Qualifiers, including a victory over Jordan that ended their unbeaten run in July 2026. Although the team faced setbacks later that year against South Korea and the Philippines, Sheikhi remained a central figure in their offensive strategy throughout the campaign. [edit]

Sheikhi projects the image of a dedicated and skilled athlete who prioritizes team success over individual glory. He is viewed as a steady presence in the backcourt, known for his defensive effort and ability to execute in critical moments. Media coverage portrays him as a loyal representative of Iranian basketball, contributing consistently to the national team's objectives without seeking excessive attention. His demeanor suggests a focus on hard work and improvement rather than fame. [edit]

As of the August 2026 rankings, Mobin Sheikhi is evaluated by the engine but not currently in the Top 1,000 most famous people globally. Sheikhi's relationship with his audience is defined by their appreciation of his specific contributions to major tournaments like the Asian Games and World Cup qualifiers. [edit]

Fans and media often refer to Mobin Sheikhi as Mighty Mobin, a nickname popularized by FIBA Asia social media posts celebrating his impactful performances. His reputation relies heavily on his shooting touch; specifically, his 5-for-8 three-point shooting display against Japan remains a frequently cited example of his scoring capability. Unlike many global stars, he maintains a relatively low profile off the court, focusing his energy entirely on his athletic career. There are no widely circulated legends or myths surrounding him beyond these documented on-court achievements. [edit]
