Mob Psycho 100
One
Overview
Shigeo Kageyama, better known as Mob, is an eighth-grader with immense psychic powers. But his real struggle isn't defeating spirits or monsters; it's controlling his emotions and finding his place in a world where he feels like an outsider. Written and illustrated by One, the same creator behind One-Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100 ran as a web manga on Shogakukan's Ura Sunday website from April 2012 to December 2017. The series was also published on the MangaONE app starting in December 2014, and Shogakukan collected its chapters into 16 tankobon volumes. Dark Horse Comics licensed the manga for English release in 2018.
This coming-of-age story blends supernatural action with heartfelt character development. Mob works part-time at a psychic consultation office under the charismatic con artist Reigen Arataka, who has no powers himself but serves as Mob's mentor. Through their adventures, Mob learns that strength isn't just about psychic ability; it's about empathy, self-acceptance, and the courage to express his feelings. The manga's deceptively simple art style and sharp writing earned it the 62nd Shogakukan Manga Award in the shonen category. By December 2022, the series had over 2.8 million copies in circulation.
An anime adaptation by Bones aired three seasons between 2016 and 2022, earning widespread critical praise. Crunchyroll streamed the series with an English dub by Bang Zoom! Entertainment, and Adult Swim's Toonami broadcast the first season. A live-action series also aired in 2018, and a spin-off manga titled Reigen launched in 2018. Mob Psycho 100 is often cited among the best anime of the 2010s for its emotional depth and stunning animation, especially in its explosive action sequences.
